Krieger (Warrior)

"Krieger", the "Die Fantastischen Vier" is one of the best songs of all time. What makes it so powerful, so perfect are the lyrics, which are in German. The original release date of "Krieger" is September 11th 1995, so it precedes the Matrix (released March 31st 1999) by roughly 3 and a half years. That what I liked about the Matrix movie is the same as what I like about this song. In fact, I find them so closely related, that it is (for me) conceivable for the the song "Krieger" to have directly inspired the movie "Matrix".

Not everyone understands German, and I have never found a decent translation of "Krieger", so I decided that I must translate it myself, as the lyrics are so very important. Below are the original lyrics in German, followed by the English translation, which is at this moment, the only Englsh translation of "Krieger" on the net!

In German the lyrics rhyme.. I wanted to translate the lyrics as closely as possible to the original, so it loses something of the overall feeling, such as the fluidity that results from rhyming verses.
