Ego Dialogues

December 31st 2007.: Ego Dialogues > Beautiful People > Danny Kaye

Danny Kaye

January 18th 1913 - March 3rd 1987.
Birth Name: David Daniel Kaminski
Born in Brooklyn, New York to Jewish immigrants from the Ukraine.

I have recently watched 2 Danny Kaye movies which I have heard of before, but never got to watch: 5 Pennies and The Court Jester. Reminded of Danny Kaye's brilliance, I decided that he had to be here, so now he is.
The first International Ambassador for UNICEF. Donated to various charities throughout his life.

Won 2 Academy awards, an honorary award in 1955, and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 1982.

He had a passion for Chinese cooking and built a kitchen in his house. For years, he invited people (some of them great celebrities like Shirley MacLaine, Michael Caine, Cary Grant, John Denver, and Itzhak Perlman) and he would show them what his cooking genius was about. Qualified guests, like French chef Paul Bocuse, said they were really amazed by Kaye's cooking ability.
Taken from imdb
The library at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY is named for him.

Quote by Danny Kaye:
"If you're not cooking with joy, happiness and love, you're not cooking well."
Louis Armstrong & Danny Kaye
from the movie The Five Pennies (1959)
