The Art of Salvador Dali

Growing up Dali used to be my favorite painter. I can't say that he still is, I am not sure who is.. maybe me.

At any rate, Dali deserves a very special place on this page. Instead of showing his works which everyone already knows and has seen a million times, here are a few less known Dalis.. Salvador Dali

Salvador Dali collaborated with Walt Disney on the Academy Award-nominated short cartoon Destino, which was released in 2003. To be exact, Destino premiered on June 2, 2003 at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in Annecy, France. The six-minute short follows a female dancer as she dances through surreal scenery inspired by Dali's paintings.

In a dreamlike universe, a man made of stone frees himself from his mooring to go after the woman carved in his heart. In this surreal dance of love, man and woman overcome the natural abyss between them.

"The project between Dali and the Disney Studios was quietly scrapped, in a financial move, when it seemed the short film (now winning rave reviews) couldn't possibly be sold. It would be nice to think that the Disney media empire decided to complete the project - which closely follows Dali's original storyboards - in the spirit of honoring an obligation. It's also reported, however, that the organization finally realized that they didn't legally own around $100 million (US) worth of original Dalis, unless the film got made."

This kind of takes away from its charm, or Disney's (the corporation's) charm anyway..
