Charles Dickens would be 200 years old today. As a small memorial I thought I’d share a painting by a Victorian artist called Robert William Buss: Dickens’ Dream.

Buss was an avid admirer of Dickens’s work which is what moved him to paint the large watercolor painting called “Dicken’s Dream” in which Charles Dickens is surrounded by various characters from his books. How the characters looked wasn’t a figment of Buss’ imagination but an attempt to reproduce the works of artists who illustrated Dickens’ work. Buss died approximately 5 years later, before he could complete the painting. Ironically, it is this unfinished piece for which he is best known today.
‘Charles Dickens is surrounded by various characters from his books’ is very interesting. I also think this image is very thoughtful and brilliant .
I have a DICKENS DREAM print # 1784 could you give me a value, please.
Very thoughtful. He is a brilliant writer and it is nice to remember him.
